We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of one of our Board of Governors, Ronald Vaughn Joyce.
Ron, Steven and his family have been extremely generous supporters to the Art Gallery of Hamilton for many years.

Ron was a philanthropic leader across the country and locally - never forgetting his home and business roots here in Hamilton. Ron supported the AGH capital campaign in 2005, and continued to demonstrate his commitment to underprivileged youth and education - the heart of the Tim Hortons camp, a reflection of Ron's legacy.

Remembering Ron's contribution to our 2016 exhibition, The Spectator interviewed Ron:

Beyond the Crease: Ken Danby, Canadian artists' work on display at the Art Gallery of Hamiton. Ron Joyce, who started the Tim Hortons donut chain with Horton, owns the painting and has loaned it to the AGH. - Scott Gardner,The Hamilton Spectator
"It's a painting but it's almost a photograph."RVJ

On behalf of all of us at the Art Gallery of Hamiton, we extend our sincere sympathies to the entire Joyce Family.

Ron will be dearly missed by my wife and I. Over 41 years, you always made time for me sharing business and personal thoughts. I will forever treasure the full rainy day we spent one on one at Fox Harbour a few years ago. You were kind in sharing thoughts and advice and listening to my ideas which led to a positive personal and business relationship.
Be at peace my friend, you will be sorely missed by friends and family alike.

So sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Joyce:( My Father Emil had many wonderful stories and adventures with him and he was always so generous to include Marty and sometimes me. It meant a lot to see him at my Dad's funeral and I know it would have meant a lot to him. Sending sincere condolences to all of the family and loved ones. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.

I worked for Ron years ago and know Of his many contributions that he did not make public. He was generous to a fault and this country will unknowingly miss him
The least Tim Hortons franchise could do is make Jan 31 annual RON JOYCE DAY ever year. And of course all proceed going to the childrens camp. His favourite. Yes there is a camp day but there should also be a RON DAY

We wish to express our condolences to Ron's family. Ron was a good friend. When our son Rick MacLeod was in hospice care with a short time to live Ron flew to Sault Ste Marie in a very bad snow storm to visit him. That was Ron. He made a young man very happy to think Ron would come to see him.
RIP Ron, you will be missed.

You are the most incredible person anyone could be blessed to know. The loss of you is felt worldwide. Not bad for a young man from humble beginnings.
Rest in peace.

I first met Ron at a Christmas party in Hamilton as a little boy. Throughout my life he always had time for me - to offer guidance and to share memories of my family. The last time we spoke, a month ago, he was surprised to find out that I didn't yet own my own aircraft. I told him I was working on it - and I am. Ron was an inspiration to me, and an incredibly down to earth and positive force in my life. I'll miss our conversations but remember those times we shared with great fondness and gratitude. I hope he enjoys a martini with my grandfather in that other place.
