Ronald Martin Aardema, 78, of Mokena, IL passed away on December 15, 2024. 

He is survived by his wife, Susan, his children Wendy (Rob) Rutkowski, Gretchen (Jonathan) Jeffries, Amy (Jason) Marchert and Jason (Kate) Aardema, and his wonderful grandchildren Emily, Olivia and Isabelle Rutkowski, Samantha and Jade Jeffries, Alexandria and Tyler Marchert and Zachary and William Aardema, along with his sister Shirley (Rolf) Schoelkopf. Ron was preceeded in death by his parents Martin and Hilda, and brother David.

Born on January 15, 1946, Ronald dedicated years of his life to serving his country as a US Marine during the Vietnam War, reflecting his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Following his military service, Ronald worked as a heavy equipment operator, a role that highlighted his strength and capability. Outside of his professional life, he was passionate about cooking, fishing, and his yard, activities that allowed him to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life. Ronald also cherished his Dept 56 Christmas Village, a testament to his love for detailed craftsmanship and the holiday spirit. Family was the cornerstone of Ronald's life, and his actions consistently reflected this priority, creating lasting memories with those he loved.

Ronald's life will be remembered for his service, his dedication to his family, and his varied interests that brought joy not only to him but also to those around him.

Services for Ronald will be held Friday, January 3rd, 2025 with a Visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL from 10am to 1pm and Service starting at 1pm. Following burial with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
