Ronald Abold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West & Dunn Funeral Home - Newton Grove on Nov. 28, 2025.
Ronald James Abold, 75, of Clinton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2025, after courageously facing advanced lung disease.

Born on March 17, 1950, in Syracuse, New York, Ron was the son of Marvin and Una (Whorrall) Abold. He grew up in Baldwinsville and spent many cherished summers at the family camp on Lake Ontario. He graduated from C.W. Baker High School in 1968 and from Paul Smith's College in 1970 with an A.S. in Forestry.

Ron spent two years in Punjab, India, serving in the Peace Corps, where he taught farming and developed a life-long appreciation for service and global community. Upon returning home, he owned and operated B'Ville Enterprises, which he proudly owned and operated for 40 years as a respected contractor in the Baldwinsville area.

On October 18, 1980, Ron married Suzanne Stachurski, and together they built a loving family in the home where Ron himself was raised. In 2013, they sold that home and built a new one on the Oswego River in Phoenix, NY, where Ron enjoyed taking family and friends out on his pontoon boat and hosting countless gatherings. In 2022, they relocated to Clinton, North Carolina to enjoy their retirement years in a warmer climate.

Ron is survived by Suzanne, his devoted wife of 45 years; his children, Allison Ann Towles (Brice) and Matthew James Abold (Nicole); and his beloved grandchildren, Emily, Jameson, Clayton, Paisley, Daxton, and Decker. He is also survived by his brother, William Abold (Kathy). Ron was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Una Abold, and his brother, Phillip Abold (Scotty).

Throughout his life, Ron was committed to service. He was a leader in Boy Scout Troops 107 and 80, a member of the Town of Van Buren Zoning Board, and an active participant in the men's group at Hopewell Methodist Church in North Carolina. A lifelong Republican, he remained engaged and informed about civic life.

Ron had many passions: spending time with his family, cheering for Syracuse University and the Buffalo Bills, following NASCAR, fishing, hunting, playing poker, taking on home projects, and enjoying the companionship of his dogs. He also loved traveling-to Florida, Topsail Island, Alaska, cruising and many destinations in between.

Ron never met a stranger. If you ever had a conversation with him, you probably learned more about his dogs or his latest home project than you ever expected, maybe heard one of his favorite fishing tales, or found yourself in a spirited debate about politics. But above all, you felt the deep love he had for his family and will always remember his big, proud smile.

Services will be held at Hopewell Methodist Church in Newton Grove, NC at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd. A second service will be held in Baldwinsville, NY at the end of December, with details to follow.
