My husband and I met Ron on a weekend trip to Boston. We lived in Memphis at the time and Ron was wearing on Ole Miss jacket so my husband started up a conversation with him. We stayed in touch with Ron and attended several Ole Miss football games as his guest. He invited us to The Grove to tailgate with his friends and family. My husband nicknamed Ron "The Godfather" because he knew everyone and people would stop by to say hello. We moved away from Memphis nearly 4 years ago and my husband and I would always think very fondly of Ron. As recently as this past weekend we wondered how he was. So I found out today that Ron had passed. I'm typing this and wiping away the tears that are forming in the corner of my eyes. For knowing him such a short amount of time, he left a lasting impression with us. We felt like we had known him for years and he treated us as cherished friends.

Such a wonderful professor! He left an everlasting mark on this world through the pharmacy students he influenced. I often tell the story of my Medicinal Chem 301 struggle until Dr. Borne loaned me a book on acid base balance. It turned on the light for me and the next quiz was a breeze! He sent an office assistant to find me and finally ran me down in the library later that week. I have to admit, I was a bit afraid he was trying to take back that A I had made, but he told me that a teacher 's dream is to help a student and see the rewards of that effort! I cried then and now!
