Ronald Byczynski Obituary

Visit the Modell Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Darien website to view the full obituary.
Ronald J Byczynski passed quietly on July 17, 2025. He was born March 21, 1940 to the late Anna (nee Swinarski) and Edward Byczynski and was brother to the late Jerry (Shirley) Barton. Ron was a proud union worker and served as a life-long pressman working primarily for the Chicago Sun-Times. His specialty was managing the color decks on the presses to ensure the photos looked just right. Ron was married to the late Ann Byczynski where they spent 56 years together until her passing in 2017. He loved camping, playing any type of card game; although, he was known to make a few extra bucks during his early years playing pinochle when he should have been attending school, spending time with family and friends and reading. Ron was a south-sider until moving to the suburbs which never explained why he was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan and always rooted for the Chicago Bears hoping Ditka would come back to coach them one more time. He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Mike) Hayes, his sons Ed (Natalie), Ron (Beth) and Art Byczynski along with his grandchildren Chris, Brandon, Drew, Courtney aka Corky, Frankie, Jessica, Daniel aka Danny and Alyssa and great-grandchildren Bennett, Henry and Wyatt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
