Greg and Bessie Lewis
March 4, 2024
Our condolences are sent to Mrs. Linda Carter and the entire Carter family. Mr. Carter was our son's ( Greg Lewis Jr) jazz band teacher and mentor at Lincoln Senior High School (Class of 1993). He instilled so many other life values in our son other than music which helped shape him into the man he is today. We never worried about our son being with Mr. Carter because we knew Mr. Carter didn't take "no mess" and expected "excellency" from the students at all times both on and off the high school campus. We simply say "thank you" and that Mr. Carter was "a blessing!' to the students and parents. Mr. Carter touched so many young lives and left a transforming legacy of music and precious memories in their hearts. We trust that God is walking with the family and tenderly holding them in the palms of His loving and mighty hands. We pray that God blesses you with all you need in every situation. Respectfully, Greg and Bessie Lewis Sr., East St. Louis ,IL

My first memory of Ron is from the St. Mary's Baptist Church in Naylor, Georgia. The late Carrietta Lester, one of the greatest Pianoist in Lowndes County, was the church Musician. I became a member of the Carter Clan way back then and is still a part of them today as Don Jr. said once you became family, you were always family. The Carters were and still are my Godparents, I gained a sister and more brothers. This is the family that my daughter, Alysia, who we all call Keke, was born into. Keke gained Grandparents, and Aunt who is her godmom and Uncles who were big as life to her. Ron and I shared the stage in one of our local Bands, The Black Rock Express, in Valdosta, Georgia; He played the Saxophone and I was the Vocalist. We were managed by the late Rev. Luther B. Robinson. We had some awesome times back then. We'll miss Ron but the love will always live on.
Love ya your other sister Lillie Jones Roberts
