Ronald H. Corban, a U.S. Navy Veteran, age 77, passed away on June 26, 2025 at Tri Point Medical Center in Concord with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 13, 1948 in Cleveland and moved to Mentor in 1978 with his wife.
Ron had many hobbies including volunteering, being a HAM radio operator, playing cards, tinkering, fishing with his grandkids, and relaxing out at Pymatuning.
Ron was not only a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, but he believed in giving back to the community that he lived in. Ron was involved with Lake County Amateur Radio Association, which included helping with disaster relief through the Red Cross, and the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). He also volunteered with Lake County RSVP, and Lake County Hospital System. Due to his community involvement he was awarded the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce 2006 citizen of the year, with his lovely wife, Gwen. Ron and Gwen were also recognized by RSVP Lake County with Outstanding Senior Citizen Award.
Ron's first career was with Ohio Bell/Ameritech as a splicing technician. After retiring from the phone company he completed Ohio Peace Officer Training at Lakeland Community College and worked at Perry Village Police Department as a patrol officer and in the Probation Department of Mentor Municipal Court.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Alma (nee Petshe) Corban, and his sons, Nicholas and Brian. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Gwen (nee Stibich); children, Sarah (Jim) Bissett, and Michael; brother, Dennis Corban; grandchildren, Corbin and Jennifer Bissett; and uncle to many.
The family will receive friends at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby on Sunday June 29, 2025 from 2-4 PM, where a short service and Military Funeral Honors will take place at 4 PM.
