Ron was a self-employed and self-driven man. As the founder of Distributed Security Inc. (DSI), he did more than teach his students firearms safety and practices – he created a community of loving individuals who have gone above and beyond for those they love.
Ron was passionate for his family, friends, and the wider community. Ron's hobbies consisted of gaming with his loved ones, cooking, fly tying, fly fishing, reading, writing, and discussing ideas and stimulating thoughts.
As a young boy, Ron was adored by all whose lives he touched, and that carried well into his adult life. Some would consider Ron to be a "people collector," bringing together like-minded individuals and building communities from nothing. Everybody would see Ron as one of the most driven, hardworking individuals they had ever met, and they would find themselves acting out in the spirit of Ron because of his sheer influence.
Ron was preceded in death by his son, Jacob, and is survived by his loving wife, Heather; his children, Ryan, Christopher, Ethan and his "soon-to-be" fiancé Haley Petz; his mother, Jutta Lane, his mother-in-law, Karen Scott, sister-in-law Jennifer (husband Steve) Butterbrodt, nieces, Joy (husband Mikael) Rein, Ivy Thomas (husband Kody Carver), and nephew Bryce (wife Naomi) Thomas, and his beloved dogs, Brandy and Brittany.
A Celebration of Life event will be held for Ron at the Coe Township Building, 9327 239th St N,
Port Byron, IL, 61275, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
