Ronald served his country with honor in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966, later attending Army Flight School in 1968 before returning to Vietnam in 1969 as a helicopter pilot. His courage and leadership earned him numerous decorations for service and valor.
In 1977, he attended Embry-Riddle University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics, and later became a fixed-wing pilot for the Army. He retired with the rank of Major in 1982, concluding more than two decades of distinguished military service.
Following his military career, Ronald continued to exemplify discipline, innovation, and leadership in the private sector. From 1982 until his final retirement in 2020, he served in executive and leadership roles with several of the world’s top corporations, earning the respect of peers and colleagues alike for his integrity, drive, and vision.
Ronald was a faithful Christian and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in El Paso. He served as deacon and became the church administrator, serving several years in that capacity.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, James and Fatina Davis; his brother, James Davis; and his sister, Debra Davis.
His legacy endures through his loving wife, Linda Marie Scholl Davis, of El Paso, Texas; his daughter, Jacqueline Denise Haithcock (née Davis) of El Paso, Texas; his sons, Andrew Ronald Davis and his wife Nina Davis of Houston, Texas, Phillip Malcolm Davis and his wife Susan Davis of Gaffney, South Carolina; and his sister, Cheryl Walker (née Davis) of Waterville, Maine.
Ronald was a proud and devoted grandfather to Adam Davis, Davis Haithcock, Olivia Davis, Samuel Davis and his wife Paige, Evan Haithcock, Ethan Davis, and Andrew James (A.J.) Davis. He was great-grandfather to his beloved great-granddaughter, Maisie Davis.
He is also survived by many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces, all of whom cherished him deeply.
He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his leadership, and his enduring love for his family and country. His life was a testament to duty, perseverance, generosity and the quiet strength of a man who lived with purpose.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
“I am the Resurrection and the Life,” says the Lord. “Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25–26)
