Ronald "Ron" Lester Dilks, 81, of La Porte, IN, went home to his Maker on Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home.
Ron was born on September 15, 1943, in La Porte, IN, to Lester C. and Jean K. (Kolodiej) Dilks.
On July 4, 1992, at the Presbyterian Church of La Porte, he married Linda Kay King Smith Dilks, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Sandy (Jim) Guerrettaz and Kevin (Chaunda) Dilks; stepchildren, Lori (Troy) Saine and James (Angelie) Smith; grandchildren, Rylie Kiel, Dustin Dilks, Belle Saine, Abigail Smith, and Ethan Smith; sister, Linda Mae (Gordon) Baker; niece, Kim Baker; nephew, Scott (Martha) Baker; great-nephews, Owen and Joel Baker; ex-wife, and Linda Kay (Pat) Marlow.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron was a custodian at La Porte Community School Corporation for many years. He loved traveling, attending Broadway shows in Chicago, viewing movies, bowling, taking cruises, the Indy 500, and watching NASCAR and Formula One racing. Ron enjoyed celebrating July 4th and Christmas, his two favorite times of the year.
Ron was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who dearly loved his family and friends. All who knew him will dearly miss him.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Pine Lake Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of La Porte, 307 Kingsbury Ave., La Porte, IN 46350.
