Ronald Dorenbush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Amory Funeral Home, Inc. - Yorktown on Jan. 15, 2026.
Yorktown, Va. – Ronald Dorenbush (82), a devoted man of faith whose life was a testament to service, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to God, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2026, at 6:30 a.m. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald lived a rich and varied life, embodying dedication in every role he embraced. He served his country with courage as a fighter pilot. He tended the earth as a farmer, finding fulfillment in stewardship and the cycles of growth. He inspired and educated as a teacher, imparting knowledge and values to young minds. He provided wise counsel as a financial planner, helping families stability and security. Above all, he was a committed Discipler-a faithful follower of Christ who mentored, encouraged, and guided countless individuals in their walk with God, always leading them closer to Jesus through his words, actions, and example.
Ronald's greatest joy was his family. He was the cherished husband of Donna Dorenbush, his faithful companion through 57 years of shared love, laughter, and trials. He was a proud and loving father to his two sons: Eric Dorenbush (and his wife, Stephanie) and Ryan Dorenbush (and his wife, Brittany). He delighted in his role as grandfather to Jacob (son of Eric and Stephanie), Harper, and Lincoln (children of Ryan and Brittany), leaving them a legacy of faith, integrity, and unconditional love.
A man who dedicated his entire life to works for God. Ronald touched hearts through his quiet strength, generous spirit, and tireless service. His influence lives on in the lives he discipled, the family he nurtured, and the faith he exemplified so consistently.
A memorial service to celebrate Ronald's life and legacy will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown, VA 23692, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions to a faith-based ministry or charity that supports discipleship, missions, or Christian service in honor of Ronald's lifelong passion.
He has now entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, having run his race with perseverance and finished well. "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21)

Ron was always an amazing Spiritual Mentor. From the Saturday morning group he led, to all the adult mission trips, to outworking the teenagers on ASP trips, he never stopped working for the Lord. KNOW he was warmly greeted when Ron got to Heaven! Prayers for the family! Anthony and Kathryn Budzik

Ron and Donna´s son, Eric, became my son Scott´s first (and still going strong) friend when we moved to the Woodlakr neighborhood in the summer of 1988. This began a friendship with the family as well. I recognized Ron´s quiet strength and strong faith immediately upon meeting him. Watching him through his actions in the neighborhood, as a squadron commander at HQ ACC, at St Luke´s, and his family through the years increased my admiration of and respect for him. Donna, Eric, Ryan, and family, I know you will miss him terribly, and I pray that now that he is resting in peace, you will find comfort in time knowing this.
