LIMA -- Ronald "Ron" Ferguson, 84, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at 5 a.m. Born on August 25, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, to Ralph and Ruth Ferguson, Ron lived a life full of dedication, love, and service.
On July 16, 1977, he married the love of his life, Cindy, and together they built a family filled with warmth and connection.
Ron devoted 32 years to the Lima Fire Department, where he served as Union President for over two decades before continuing his commitment to fire safety as a State Fire Marshal. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the firefighting community.
Ron was a man of boundless energy and unwavering love for his family and friends.
He cherished time spent with his daughters, Chris Diercks (Kevin), Robin Pennington (Rudy), Heather Lansdale, and his son, Travis Frankhouser. He also shared a deep bond with his sisters, Barb Briley (Mike) and Pam Jacobs. As a proud grandfather, he adored his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as his many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Gary, and his brother, Larry.
In retirement, Ron found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the sunshine-filled winters in Ft. Myers Beach, where he embraced each day with gratitude and warmth. Ron's legacy of service, love, and unwavering kindness will be cherished forever by those who knew him.

As the young kids, we had a lot of good times we would all meet at the Sweetland after school. We would go to parties, one time we even went out to a place we called the cow pasture. It was somewhere around Springbrook.
There was a pond and cows
A bunch of us would build a fire
And stick frozen meat in the fire and potatoes thinking they would cook
Wonderful memories!

I grew up as a LFD Captain´s son and knew Ron, and several of his children. Ron was a straight shooter, always involved in something and dedicated to the community. Rest in eternal peace.
