Ronald Freund Obituary
Ron loved the outdoors, gardening, family, travel, the Green Bay Packers & softball! He served in the USAF and worked civil service personnel, retiring from Randolph AFB where he worked since 1987.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Pat Freund, his in-laws Cecil and Marilyn Matthews, and a brother Robert Freund.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia and their four children; Lisa (Robert) Schulze, Tina (Evan) Johnson, Doug (Julie) Freund, and Nick Freund. Ron adored each of his grandchildren; Hannah (Kevin), Matthew, Chris, Sara, Aidan, Payton and Paige, as well as his step grandchildren, Parker, Landon, and Alek. Ron was the oldest of six children and a great friend and brother to his siblings, Mary Ellen Toots Thorn, Tom Friend, John Freund, and Steve Freund. He is also survived by many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
A Visitation will be held for Ron from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home.
The burial will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Ron was one of the most friendly and congenial guys I ever met. Never a bad word about anyone, I was always happy to see Ron. We played softball together for a number of years, and I believe that photo is from the 2011 Texas State Championships, which we won. A terrific guy. Condolences to his family.

I worked with Ron at several locations, including Ramstein AB Germany. Ron was always a calm voice of reason and a really nice man. my condolences to his family.
