Mr. Ronald R. Gant Sr., 84 of Bayberry Lane, Danbury, entered into eternal sleep, peacefully, on Friday May, 6, 2022 at Danbury Hospital. He was the widower of Andoris (Payton) Gant. Ronald was born on June 21, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY a son to the late Chivas and Rebecca (Harris) Gant. "Ronnie" as he was affectionately called by all, was educated in the New York Public School System. After graduating high school, he along with his 2 brothers, Allen and Adrian joined the United States Military. Allen joined the US Marine Corps while both Adrian and Ronnie joined the US Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, Ronnie relocated to Danbury where he resided until his passing. He worked for Gilbert and Bennett Fencing Company until he retired after 40 years of service. Ronnie was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Aaron B. Samuels. He was also a Charter Founding Member of Carter L Marshall Elk Lodge #1556 since 1965. During his many years as a member, he served in many capacities and many seats faithfully for the past 57 years. He enjoyed spending his days watching game shows, shooting pool, watching his favorite team, The Mets, play baseball. Before his health began to fail, he would attend basketball games where his granddaughter Amarryi Blessin played. He also enjoyed challenging his family and friends with brain twisting questions and quizzes. He was a man of few words but a large heart of gold. He will be missed by all who knew him. To cherish his memory, Ronnie leaves , three daughters; Rebecca (Corbin) Gant of Danbury, Deidra "DeeDee" Scruggs of Hamden, CT, Nanette Hutchins of MD, two sons; Ronald "Siki" R. Gant Jr. and Shawn Gant both of Danbury, eleven grandchildren; Maurice, Tamia, Jawon (Chakaria), Ky-jana, Emerald, Econal, Devontay, Bria, Rebecca, Jacob, Stiles, fourteen great grandchildren; one brother; Adrian Gant of DC, three sisters in law; Letrice (Allan) Gant, Virginia (Morton) Percy, Linda (Eddie) Thompson, one brother in law; Thomas (Judy) Payton, a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his wife of over 60 years, Andoris, Ronnie was predeceased by brother, Allen Gant, sister, Denise Taylor, granddaughter, Tawanna Hutchins, and great grandson, Legend Torres.
