Ronald Goff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lake Funeral Home - Saranac on Dec. 11, 2025.
Ronald Wayne Goff, age 70, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 23, 1955 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital, Ionia, MI. The was the third son of Vernie and Ken Goff. Ron received his education at Saranac Community Schools and earned his Builder's license through Montcalm Community College.

Ron married Renee Raimer on December 16, 1972. He was hired at Steelcase in Grand Rapids where he was a machine operator. In 1975 Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army where he received training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and was then stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky until he was discharged in 1978. He then moved back to Saranac and returned to working at Steelcase where he spent 31 years. He was known not just as a hard worker, but also as someone who lifted others up with his humor, smile, reliability, and genuine respect for everyone he worked with.

His patriotism ran deep-not loud or boastful, steady, proud and rooted in gratitude for the country he loved.

Ron was a devoted husband, father, and papa. His selflessness shows in many ways through small consistent acts-helping without being asked, showing up, and loving without condition.

Outside of work Ron coached Little League Baseball and was fundamental in the creation of the once thriving AYSO Saranac soccer League.

When Ron joined the Saranac Community Fire Department it became his second home and more importantly his second family. The bond with his firefighters was completely unbreakable! He volunteered and served the Saranac Community for 27 years and was very proud to have been a firefighter and first responder.

He loved golfing with his lifelong buddies from Steelcase and many others as well. Golf wasn't just a hobby, but a challenge and a place where his competitiveness came alive. He loved the game and the camaraderie with his friends.

Ron leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service. He touched more people than he ever realized, and his example will continue to guide those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Surviving Ron is his loving wife of almost 53 years Renee Goff of Saranac. Children, Jennifer Lepley of Grand Rapids, Tricia (Tom) Mutschler of Saranac and Jamie (Destini) Goff of Saranac. Grandchildren, Makenzie (Brad) Hyland, Autumn (Gale) Martin, Caleb Randall, Riley Cass, Bryson Randall, Colten Goff, Levi Goff, Jake Randall, Kelsey Goff, Kennison Mutschler, Ally (Erik) Gulledge, Blaine Mutschler, Angel Mutschler, Christian Mutschler, Annabell Mutschler, Ellie Mutschler, Sienna Mutschler, Makayla Gulledge, Grey Broten and Huntleigh. Brother Gary (Roxanne) Goff and Sister Maureen Covault. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Goff.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a Visitation at the Saranac Community Schools Cafeteria on Saturday, January 3rd from 1-3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service with Fire Department and Military Honors at the School Auditorium at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ethan Tews officiating.
