Ronald (Ron) L. Hanwell, 83, of North Royalton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. He was born on January 4, 1943, in
Altoona, PA, and was the first born son of deceased Alfred and Thelma Hanwell.
Ron is survived by his cherished wife of 60+ years, Barbara. He was a father to a large family of children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Barbara and his three children, Leah Cole (Frederick) of Wadsworth, Ronald Hanwell, Jr. (Rachel) of Oberlin, and Christopher Hanwell (Jill) of Seven Hills; five grandchildren, Preston (Allyson), Greyson, Benjamin, Kennedy, and Lucy. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Cheryl Adamec (Frank) and his dear brother, Jeffrey Hanwell (Therese). Ron was tragically preceded in death by his granddaughter, Halle Drane (Harrison). He was seen as a trusted father figure and friend for many others as well.
Ron was longtime employee and retiree of the Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping Plant. He was also a part-time resident of over 20 years in
Winter Haven, FL, where he and Barb liked to spend their winters. He was a loyal person and would do almost anything for those close to him, in particular his children and grandchildren. He had a wonderful faith in his God, Jehovah. Ron worshiped in the Brecksville Congregation in Ohio as well as the Winter Haven South Congregation in Florida. Always serving his God with joy and a smile on his face, he enjoyed encouraging his fellow believers, reading the Bible, attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall and sharing his faith with others.
In harmony with his beliefs, Ron truly did "love his neighbors" and was considered a good neighbor for nearly 50 years in North Royalton and 20+ years in Winter Haven. Ron had a real zest for life and was a fervent Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed watching the local Cleveland teams, including attending games. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and loved playing, watching, or talking about the sport. He enjoyed time with his beloved family, including taking trips with them and also inviting people to his place in Florida. Any and all were welcome to "pop in" and visit at any time. He had an interest in and keen knowledge of household chores like plumbing, auto repairs, and cutting his grass, and enjoyed participating in these activities at various times in his life. Ron loved history and had an uncanny ability to recall historical facts and information. He was an exceptional storyteller and liked nothing more than to sit around with friends and family swapping stories and funny anecdotes about life.
Ron was a larger-than-life personality who is already dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
