Ronald Lee Harmeyer, the son of Joseph and Frances (Otto) Harmeyer, was born on July 31, 1935, in Carroll, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Lidderdale until the age of 9, when the family moved to a farm in Lake City, graduating from Lake City High School – "Class of 1953". Ron farmed with his father, taking a break to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War, 1957 to 1959.

Ron was united in marriage with Alice Dinges on November 19, 1960, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake, to this union 6 children were born: Rachel, Renee, Christopher, Gregory, Todd and Marcus.

Ron loved every aspect of farming and raising livestock, including teaching his children as much as possible, and with his love of growing – he had a passion for gardening! He also enjoyed bowling, softball, woodworking and spending time with family – especially the grandchildren, which he always had laughter and a smile for.

Ron was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Goldfield American Legion.

Ron passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd Harmeyer.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Alice Harmeyer of Goldfield; children: Rachel Stachowiak (Don) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Renee Larson (Bob) of Lake Geneva, WI, Christopher Harmeyer (Janet) of Elkhart, Gregory Harmeyer (Shelly) of Lisbon, WI, Todd Harmeyer (Connie) of Madrid, and Marcus Harmeyer (Tish) of Jefferson; 18 grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; sisters, Jean Collins of Rockwell City, Mary Lou Collins of Rockwell City and JoAnn Schlerholtz of Tallahassee, FL and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral Mass is Monday, August 18, 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary at 9:00 am and visitation from 9:30 until service time at the church.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
