Ronald Andre Harrod departed this life on July 14, 2025, at 10:20 pm at IU Health Methodist Hospital. Ron, as he was affectionately called, was born on January 29, 1945, to Ernest Harrod and Lula Dunlap in Jeffersonville, IN. He accepted Christ early in life and attended Bethel AME Church.
Ron received his formal education through Clark County School System prior to going on and attending Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee. At the age of 21, Ron joined the Indianapolis Police Department. Ron was a dedicated officer and proudly served his community with integrity for 40 years. Ron moved up the ranks to sergeant and received the Detective of the Year award. Ron was a member of the Minority Police Officers Association, and once retired, he began attending the retired officer's luncheons to keep in contact with those he once worked with. Once retired, Ron began working for AES, where he remained for the next 16 years. Ron held many roles while there, with his most recent being the AES guard's manager.
Ron was united in holy matrimony with Angela Marie Davis on May 3, 1980. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, working on projects around the house, traveling, and catching up with old friends. When he was younger, he enjoyed building model cars, and he was a Cub Scout and a member of Junior Achievement.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ernest Harrod and Lula Dunlap, his brothers Michael Dunlap, Jasper Dunlap, and Mary Harrod, grandsons Lavonne Harrod and Andre Harrod, and son Jeffrey Todd Brown. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Angela Davis Harrod, sister Pam Sarver (David), and brother Antony Dunlap (Valerie). He is also survived by his children, Ronald A. Harrod II, Anrika Harrod , Larissa Woods (Fred), as well as grandchildren Tiffiney Brown, Andrene M-D Harrod-Samuels, Naya Harrod, Nina Harrod, Cameron Woods, and Christian Woods; niece Khymberly Walker, nephew Michael Antony Byrd and a host of great grandchildren.
