Ronald Alfred Hatfield "Ronnie", one of God's most beloved and onery angels was called home the evening of January 18th, 2024. Ronnie was a happy man who loved life and a smile that lit up the world. He was charming, fun, and a joy to be around. He was a true warrior against cancer and so full of love and joy for everyone, no matter the ravages of cancer.
Ronnie was born in Farmington DE at home on November 25, 1940. He was the 3rd child and only son to the late Lester and Francis Hatfield. Raised in Farmington and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1958. After school he joined the Navy and became a Radioman 2nd Class on the USS Stickell traveling to foreign countries. In 1962 he started his career with the Seaford DuPont Co. and retired in 1993 as manager and supervisor of the Dye Lab.
After retiring he started working part time for Arts Antique Alley, which is now Antique Alley and Downtown Alley. He loved it there and loved the people so much.
He was dedicated to community service volunteering with the Farmington Vol. Fire Com., the Woodbridge Band Boosters, Bridgeville Little League, served on the Woodbridge School Board, Greenwood Alumni Asso and an active member to the Bridgeville Lions Club for over 50 years.
Ronnie loved the Delaware State Fair and was totally dedicated, from a young boy till his passing. He was on the Board of Directors, Superintendent of the Grandstand and Director of the Entertainment Comm. It was his second family,
Most importantly he loved his family. Ronnie and his wife Bonnie loved each other deeply and were always together and Ronnie loved his son Shawn his wife Kristen and their 3 grandchildren Taylor, Tyler and Trey with all of his heart.
He is also survived by his sister Mary Lou Hurd and her son JB and wife Susan, niece Lori James and Leo and nephew Jerry Hamstead and all their children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Hamstead, his niece Tracy Kaiser and his brother-in-law Jim Hurd.
Ronnie's countless deeds of kindness, always giving and never expecting any favors in return made this world a better place.
Ronnie fought a good fight and will be missed dearly, but we will never forget him. R.I.P. Rest in Paradise and be with God.
