Ronald Hill Obituary

Ronald Ray Hill

1933 ~ 2021

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, Ronald Ray Hill our gentle and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at home.

Ron was born on Oct. 28, 1933, to Carl Hood Hill and Dorothy June Hill. On April 30, 1955, he married the love of his life in Salt Lake City, and they later solemnized their marriage in the Laie Hawaii Temple. In the 66 years they shared, they raised three children, ate ice cream (Ron's favorite), took his Porsche out on drives, and traveled the world together.

Ron loved sports. He played football for West High School, and later cycled in the Huntsman World Senior games in St. George. But he loved skiing the most. As a certified ski instructor, Ron taught at the Brighton and Alf Engen ski schools. He was recognized by the Professional Ski Instructors of America for 50 years of service. His friends (and he had many) used to say "Alta isn't Alta without a Hill on the hill." Up until a month ago, at 87 years old, Ron was on two skis, sharing those hills with his family.

But no amount of love for the mountains could ever compare to his love for his family. He listened without interruption, and his family always knew their ideas and feelings were important to him. His friends and family will remember him for his kindness, his quiet presence, and the way he made everyone (no matter how big or small) feel special and heard.

Ron was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent 2 years serving in the military in Germany (where he discovered his appetite for travel), and another 6 years in the National Guard.

Ron is survived by his wife Geri Jackson Hill; his children Gregory (Shirley) Hill, Tara (Michael) d'Artois, and Rusty Hill; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

There will be a Graveside Service at the Murray City Cemetery on May 4, 2021 at 11 am, located at 5600 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah.

A Viewing will also be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home on May 3, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm, at 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah.

Geri would like to thank their friends at Summit Vista for their love and support.

Geri ( and family)

I know this is belated, but I just today saw Ron´s obituary!!

May I express my profound condolences to you and your family. Laurel and I held our memories of living in Murray, as we began our family , as one of our richest experiences, and memories!! I loved working with Ron in the Elders Quorum Presidency, as we worked to bring other brethren back into full faith and fellowship in the gospel.

Laurel always held dear, her friendship with you and the true friends that you always were.

5307 was our true beginning on our earthly journey as a young married couple.

My sweetheart passed last October 22 from a stroke.... caused by undiagnosed Leukemia.

This life without our eternal companions is a road that is never sought or willingly embraced.

May the Lord´s companionship give you the support you seek as you go forward without your better half.

All my love and hope,
Keith Blomquist
