Ronald James Jodun

Ronald James Jodun, 91, of Flemington, was called to eternal rest on the morning of February 21, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.
Ron was born on October 7, 1934, and was raised by Roland Pierce Jodun and Laura Arabelle Jodun at 527 Wright Street in Flemington. There, he completed his early education before moving on to and later graduating from Lock Haven High School. His early academic success was shaped by his highly active lifestyle; during his youth, he was an avid tennis player - a habit that, along with swimming, followed him throughout his life. His consistent commitment to training both body and mind sparked an industrious spirit in Ronald that centered on three key pillars of his life: community, family, and faith.
A large part of Ron's service existed through his devotion to the education of others. Throughout his tenure as a teacher at both the junior and senior high schools in Lock Haven, he became a mentor and guide to numerous generations of students. To further extend his pedagogical pursuits, he applied for and became the recipient of multiple highly competitive NSF grants that subsidized his studies of science and mathematics at Oberlin College in Ohio and New Mexico Highlands University. He later completed his master's degree in mathematics at Syracuse University. There, he nearly finished his doctorate but returned home to support his family.
Alongside his academic and professional growth, he proudly served as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1960, when he was honorably discharged. His varied experience propelled him forward in his career, leading to his promotion as Head of the Mathematics Department at Lock Haven Senior High School, a position he held until retiring from teaching in 1986.
Following his retirement from primary education, Ron began a second career in financial advising. In the late 1970s, he purchased an H&R Block franchise, preparing taxes for residents of Lock Haven. He later worked at Merrill Lynch and Comprehensive Financial Service Group, where his work expanded to include stockbroking and insurance services. His extensive knowledge and practical experience eventually led him to teach income tax preparation courses at Lock Haven University and mathematics courses at Penn College, continuing his lifelong commitment to teaching in a new capacity. His community mentorship culminated in his election as President of the Lock Haven/Mill Hall Area branch of "Golden K", or Kiwanis International from 1997 to 1998.
At the same time he was building his career, Ron was building a family. During his time as a schoolteacher, he met the former Margaret Callahan. They were quickly infatuated, and their relationship soon blossomed into marriage. In 1961, their first child, Robbin, was born. Soon to follow were Rebecca, Amy, and Matthew. In 1968, the burgeoning family settled at 1198 North Hillview Street in Flemington, where they established deep roots that remain to this day.
Always close to his heart were his pets. Longtime residents of Lock Haven fondly recall the rough collies playing on his neatly manicured lawn - a small but lasting image of the home he and his family so carefully maintained.
Every Sunday, Ron took his family to St. Luke's United Church of Christ to worship. There, he served faithfully as a council member, living out his belief that faith was not simply spoken but practiced through service, steadiness, and devotion.
He is survived by the love of his life for the last 65 years, the former Margaret Ann Callahan, who steadfastly devoted herself to his care in his final years, and his children: Robbin Jodun Kramer of Jersey Shore; Rebecca Jodun Confer of Mackeyville; Amy E. Jodun at home; Matthew C. Jodun of Flemington, and Kimberly Torres.
He is also survived by four grandchildren: Heather M. Stahl of Jersey Shore; Stephanie E. Stahl (Brittany) of Muncy; David J. Kramer of Golden, Colorado; and Rachel M. Kinley (Nathan) of Jersey Shore.
Additionally, he is survived by four great-grandchildren: Finn, Maverick, and Atlas Kinley, and Micah Mascaro-Stahl.
Ron is also survived by extended family - sister-in-law Colleen Callahan Noone; her children, Michelle (Walter) Treaster, Justin (Cassandra) Noone, and Joshua (Audra) Noone; and her grandchildren.
Ron was predeceased by his sons-in-law, Walter J. Kramer, whom he thought of as a son, and Guy L. Confer; and by his brother-in-law, Timothy Noone.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Flemington Goodwill Hose Fire Company, the Donald Walker Funeral Home, and the many friends and services, including UPMC Home Hospice, who were integral in assisting the family through this difficult transition.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 1175 W. 4th Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with a celebration of Ron's life to follow at 11:00 a.m. All are invited to remain for a reception in the social hall of the church. A private burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Monday, March 1, 2026.
