Ronald Jones Obituary
Published by Legacy on Jul. 30, 2025.
Ronald Jan Jones entered his heavenly home on May 15, 2025, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Augusta, Kansas. Ronald Jan Jones was born on February 16, 1943, to Fred Marion Jones and Maudie Ilera Bradshaw Jones in Altus, Oklahoma. He spent his years growing up in West Texas. He enjoyed spending his summer farming with his grandparents. He attended high school at Lubbock High. He met LaVonne Burkholder in May of 1961, and they were married on December 25, 1961. Soon after they welcomed their first son, Ronald entered Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. While there, Ronald and LaVonne had two more sons. Ronald graduated from BBC in Springfield, MO.
Following a conversation with brother-in-law in September 5, 1966, at 11:30 in the evening, Ronald realized that he had never accepted Christ as his Savior, and he was gloriously saved! He never looked back and began to grow in the Lord and be fruitful. The Lord used Ronald in the ministry throughout his life in various places, from Savannah, GA to Tempe, AZ, to Springfield, MO, to Rincon, GA, to Torrington, WY to Mound, MO, to Bend, OR, and finally settling in El Dorado, KS. Ronald's life leaves a lasting impact on those who got to witness his ministry. Because of his faithfulness, lives were changed, and souls were led to the Lord. He counted the cost and served his Lord faithfully to the end. No stranger to hardship, Ronald suffered many health setbacks over recent years, including multiple heart surgeries, the amputation of his leg and part of his remaining foot, but he faced the adversity as he faced all things: with the Lord, a smile, and a song.
Known to many as either Ronald/Dad/Papa/Knock/Father Jones or Pastor, he leaves behind a goodly heritage and a lasting legacy for his family. He taught with not only his words, but his life, that the Lord Jesus is worthy of all praise and that following the Lord is never a mistake. He is preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, LaVonne and five sons, Ronald(Twila), Mark(Denise), Timothy(Missy), Jeffrey, and John Paul(Jessica), as well as twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-children.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 925 Douglas Rd, El Dorado with his son Pastor Ron Jones presiding over services. Memorial donations may be made in Ron's memory to Missions at Temple Baptist Church, 925 Douglas Rd, El Dorado, KS.
His life verse was Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." He faithfully lived out his calling, and his family has no doubt that when he saw his Saviour, he was welcomed into his eternal reward and heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
