Ron Jurgensen, 75 of Kearney, was taken home by The Lord to heaven on January 19, 2025, at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Kearney First United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Ron Jurgensen was born September 12, 1949, in Burwell, Neb., to Harley A. and Leona (Gillespie) Jurgensen. He was raised in Burwell, Neb. Ron loved his growing up years on the farm. He and his brothers helped with the farm work and milked cows by hand both morning and night. He graduated from Burwell High School in 1967. He attended Southeast Community College where he majored in electrical. He was united in marriage to Carleen Wilson on July 5, 1970, in Burwell, Neb. In August 1971, Ron and Carleen moved to Kearney, Neb., where he enrolled at Kearney State College and majored in Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in December 1976. He worked for 18 years at West Company, then Horizon Design and became disabled while working at Builders Millworks all in Kearney. He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in November of 2004 and had a stem cell transplant in April of 2008. The transplant was successful, and he went 12 and a half years without medications. He began chemo treatments in 2020.

Ron loved coaching girls soccer and softball and coached teams his daughter and then granddaughters played on. He also loved watching his granddaughters participate in sports, dance and martial arts along with grandsons participating in soccer, basketball and baseball.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carleen Jurgensen; his children, Kenton (Jamie) Jurgensen and Kirsten (John) Scheer; his grandchildren, Destyni (Lane) Ahrens, Preslie Scheer, Jaycee Scheer, Barrett Jurgensen, Brayden Jurgensen; and great-granddaughter, Sadie Ahrens; brother, Roland (Lois) Jurgensen; and sister, Sheryl (Bill) Holt; and sisters-in-law, Patty Gillespie, Ina Jurgensen, Sharon (Wesley) Klevin, Suzanne (Dwayne) Ellison, Carol (Robert) Williams and DeeAnn Wilson. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded death by his father; mother; brothers, Kenneth Jurgensen, Harold Jurgensen, Roger Gillespie, Harley E. Jurgensen, Jerald Jurgensen; and sister, Dorothy Brockman; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Jurgensen, Verna Jurgensen, Eileen Jurgensen; and brothers-in-law, Richard Brockman and Jan Wilson.
