Ronald Kaleck Obituary

Ron grew up in Logan section of Philadelphia with his family. His beautiful Mother Sarah, Father Harry and older sisters Joanie and Rhoda. He loved reminiscing about his most treasured memories, and millions of stories of his uncles and cousins, “The Best days”.

From an early age Ron had a good sense of Business, in his school days he worked at the local corner store Phils Market making milk shakes. After high school he worked with his father at the Produce Market in South Philly. Where he realized he wanted a business of his own. He set out on his journey, taking a multitude of jobs. Ron became a hairdresser, He sold swimming pools, carpet, TV’s and he managed a women’s shoe store. Then Ron took his first building supply job at Sylvan Build-In, which sparked an interest, embracing his hidden talent, owning and operating a chain of building supply stores. First came Plywood World, next Builders Salvage and then Ronnies Building Supply, serving Phillys surrounding areas. Soon after Ron followed his desired path in owning commercial real estate. Becoming a landlord for many years. Ron developed many relationships and friendships over the years. He loved his best friends Dave Shapiro, Irv Steinberg and Bernie Williams. Ron was the last one standing and he missed his friends every day.

While building his empire, he also was a loving husband to Carole, a devoted father to Rob and Gregg. He raised his children to become responsible individuals, instilling his strong values and business experience, teaching them to be kind and capable men. There wasn’t a day that didn’t go by that he wasn’t on the phone with Rob or Gregg, always telling jokes, complaining about his restaurant experiences, where to get the best cheesesteaks also going on about his latest red sauce recipe, (which was his most favorite thing to do). Ron was very proud of his boys and all their accomplishments.

Ron and Carole shared a loving, deep, fulfilling marriage, enjoying their lives together for more than 50years, also working side by side in the business. They had a healthy balance to their relationship. They created a life where they shared many experiences, traditions, a daily routine and fun family weekends for all. He had a strong bond with his in-laws through the years with Mother and father-in-law Frank and Virgina Andrews, sister and brother in-laws Anita and George Diehl, Kevin and Pat McDevitt along with their children.

Ron loved and adored his grandchildren Samantha, Matthew, Joseph, Emma, and Shawna. He was always entertaining them with his quirky little parlor tricks, pulling quarters out of their ears and stacking jelly at breakfast to keep their attention. And at last Ron was very fortunate to have become a Great Grandfather to Mia. Whom amazed him, He couldn’t understand how she could work the remote better than him at the age of 4.

Ron was a Legend and icon to the family, who he loved dearly, and he did things his way, he stayed true to his beliefs. He will be greatly missed by all.
