Ronald Glenn Krapes was born October 9, 1946 in Kansas City, KS the son of Glen Huber Krapes and Mildred Earlene (Campbell) Krapes. He was the oldest of three sons. Ron joined the Navy in 1964 and proudly served as a VP-6 Blue Shark. He was stationed primarily at Barbers Point Hawaii where he was an Aviation Ordnanceman where his role was to handle all weapons and ammunition as part of the air crew flying P-3 Orions. He also spent time in Adac Alaska. Ron served during the Vietnam War. They flew almost every day including trips to the Asian theater and their main mission was flying over the ocean looking for enemy submarines. He discharged in 1967. He cherished that time with the VP-6.
After his service, he eventually moved to Las Vegas where he lived for almost 25 years. He found his calling of using his extroverted personality as a car salesman for higher end autos. He excelled as their Sales Manager. Ron developed many relationships with those he worked with still keeping in contact with several 50 years later. He returned to the Kansas City area in the late 90's when he met Teresa and they married on October 17, 1998. They recently celebrated their 27th anniversary. In 2006, they moved to the Drexel area, settling in the country where they would raise horses, mules, bloodhounds, coonhounds, Rottweilers, chickens, turkeys, llamas, alpacas, fainting goats, pigs, and mini schnauzers. For a city boy, he did well in the country.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Mildred and his two brothers, Mark Krapes and Greg Krapes. Mildred's sons are together again. He is survived by his wife Teresa of the home and his schnauzers DeeDee and Dewey whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by Teresa's nephew and niece, Shawn and Whitney, he loved as his own. He is survived by several cousins and their spouses from the Campbell sisters. His extroverted, charming personality will be greatly missed.
