Ronald J. Krebs

Ronald J. Krebs, 75, died Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola. The family will receive friends 4-7 pm Monday June 5th at Iles Norwalk Chapel where a Vigil Service will begin at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, June 6th at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Norwalk Cemetery.
Ronald was born on November 11, 1947 to John and Marie (Engelman) Krebs in Dickinson, ND. Growing up on the family farm in New England, ND, in 1965 he graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Serving from 1966 to 1968, he dedicated a year of his service to Vietnam. After his time in the U.S. Army, Ron made Des Moines, IA his new home. It was there that he raised his family and embarked on a remarkable 38-year career with the United States Postal Service. He held various positions at the United States Postal Service and served as a dedicated union steward for the APWU until his retirement in 2014.
Ron devoted himself to his beloved wife, with whom he married on August 14, 2004 and together they celebrated 18 years of marriage. His unwavering devotion encompassed his children, grandchildren, and all those dear to his heart. He was an active member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, finding strength in his faith. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and avidly supported the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed watching Old Westerns and delighted in sharing stories from his childhood.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; children: Shona (Chris) Hunt of Des Moines, Robert Krebs of Des Moines; stepchildren: Ryan (Rebecca) Doll of Ottawa, IL, Rodney (Justin) Doll of Calhan, CO, Lori (Dan) Buske of Norwalk; grandchildren: Jarryd Hunt, Kayla (Trever) Jack, Alex Hunt, Vicki Dugan, Harley Dugan, Kaitlyn Krebs, Stephanie Krebs, Jamie Doll, Paisley Buske, Lawson Buske, Avrey Doll; great grandchildren: Zayn Brose, Zoey Hunt, Holly Hunt-Rich, Brix Jack; siblings: Gary Krebs, Sister Lavonne Krebs, Marilyn Mohrman, Jeanette Krebs, Elaine David, Rick Krebs, Charles Krebs, Sharon Kendrex; numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kevin Krebs; son, Brett Krebs and step son, Rusty Doll.
