SIDNEY -- Ronald L. Laughlin, age 91, passed away October 3, 2022 at The Ohio State University as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born to the late John F. and Retha (Ludlune) Laughlin on the family farm where he lived all 91 years of his life.
He was a graduate of the Sidney High School class of 1949. His junior year he was a member of the school's Poultry Judging Contest that placed first in the state. When living on the family farm he raised Dorset and Rambouillet sheep which he showed at many of the county fairs and won many ribbons at the State Fair.
On September 14, 1952 he married June (Howell). They were married for 70 years and had four children. He proudly served his country in the Air Force and he and his wife resided in El Paso Texas for two of those years.
Preceding him in death are his parents, an infant brother, daughter Elaine Laughlin, son in law Curt Hottle and grandson Zack Laughlin. Others left to cherish his memory is daughter Tina Hottle of Sidney, sons Kim (Barb) Laughlin of Sidney, Brett (Valerie) Laughlin of Lancaster, Ohio, granddaughters Ashley (Alex) Duff of Columbus, Ohio, Brooke Laughlin of Columbus, Ohio and Paige Laughlin of Lancaster as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Over the years Ronnie was involved in many organizations. He was a life member of the Sidney Elks, Antioch Shriners, Sidney American Legion Post 217 for 57 years, Moose Lodge, Grand Order of Royal and Select Masons for 65 years, Grand Temperance Lodge #73, and Masonic High 12 Club #82.
Ronnie worked on the family farm and was very proud of having an Ohio Century Farm. He also retired from Wayne Trail Tool and Die in Fort Loramie after 29 years where he was a purchasing agent.
Anyone who knew Ronnie knew he liked the "Buckeyes" and that was evident by the collection of over 80 Buckeye hats and other OSU memorabilia.
After having three children graduate from The Ohio State University, Ron and June began taking trips with the Buckeye Boosters. They did this for 26 years making it to all of the "Big 10" schools and many Bowl games.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday October 15, 2022 at 11AM at Cromes-Edwards funeral home with Pastor Kris Geise officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Ronnie's final resting place will be at Pearl Cemetery at a later date.
To honor Ronnie we are asking those in attendance to wear your favorite "Buckeye" gear and come prepared to tell of your favorite memory of him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elaine Laughlin scholarship fund at The Community Foundation. 100 S. Main Ave. Suite 202 Sidney, Ohio 45365.
