MGYSGT Ronald Hobbs McAbee, 82, USMC, Retired, widower of Flora Ann McAbee, of Bluffton, SC, died Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:30am in Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel with interment in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. McAbee was born on September 1, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC. He is the son of the late Robert McAbee and Lois Hobbs McAbee.

Mr. McAbee was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1962 to 1992. He served during the Vietnam War, he was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, and Good Conduct Medal. In more recent years He was the bailiff for Beaufort County Family Court until his death. He was a faithful member of Bluffton United Methodist Church.

Surviving is one daughter, Penelope McAbee Close (Glendon); four grandchildren, Berkley Close (Sierra), Gabriella Close, Braeden McAbee and Asher McAbee; and two great grandchildren, Owen Close and Colton Close.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son, EODC Robert R. McAbee, USN.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to SPCA, EOD Wounded Warrors, American Cancer Society.
