Ronald Mulvaney, Born July 26th, 1933 - Born to Eternal Life November 17th, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ron enlisted in the Marines on the last day of the Korean War unaware the cease-fire would be announced the next day. After he served his term, he utilized the GI bill and moved to Milwaukee, WI to attend Marquette University where he graduated with a journalism degree. However, he also graduated with something far more valuable than a degree. While he was a student there, he met Joan Helget who was attending Misericordia as a young nursing student. He practiced photography with her as his model and eventually proposed marriage. Having 7 children total, they were married for 53 years until Joan preceded him in death in 2011.
They lived in Milwaukee, WI sharing a duplex with Joan's parents until they moved to Brookfield, WI in 1973 where they joined St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, Ron frequently attended retreats at the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh, one of his favorite places.
Ron dedicated many years of volunteer work assisting the unemployed and underemployed, having opened multiple local chapters of 40+ of Southeastern WI where he assisted over 4000 individuals find jobs and fight ageism.
After Joan's passing, Ron moved to Atlanta, GA to live with family, where he was an active parishioner at St. Benedict in Johns Creek and later at St. Thomas Aquinas in Alpharetta as well.
Ron was an avid reader and learner who cherished his book collection. He also had a deep appreciation for classical music, able to identify the composer & title for any piece he heard, which he tried to infuse into his kids.
Ron would love to be remembered for his devoted Catholic faith and sharing his vast Biblical knowledge and Liturgies of the Catholic Church. Ron made friends wherever he went and resided. He became a beloved member of the community at Brookdale Chambrel Roswell and Atria North Point in Alpharetta. He leaves behind 5 surviving children: Therese (Shawn) Yates, Sharon (Chuck) Kessenich, Janet (Brent) Mileur, David (Beth) Mulvaney, and Susan King (Nee Mulvaney) He joins 2 sons who preceded him in death: Patrick Mulvaney, Daniel (Jean) Mulvaney. Grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family has requested in leu of flowers that donations (multiple designations available) be made in the name of Ron Mulvaney at the Jesuit Retreat House https://www.jesuitretreathouse.org/index.cfm?action=donate.
A Funeral Mass will be said 10:30 AM Friday December 6, 2024 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with Father Avery Daniel serving as Celebrant.
