Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Queen, passed away after a period of declining health on December 17, 2025. Ronnie was born on March 5, 1960 in Sylva, North Carolina and was raised in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mackie Queen, and his brother, Roger Queen.
Ronnie spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, but above all else, Ronnie cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy and pride.
He is survived by his father, Mack Queen; his children, Christopher Queen (Latasha) and Melissa Jones (Ransom); his beloved grandchildren, Cameryn Queen, Landree Queen, Alexander Jones, Zachary Jones, Kaci Queen, and Alyson Jones; his brothers, Michael (Joy) Queen, Terry (Linda) Queen, and Kenny (Pat) Queen; his sister, Barbara (Eddie) McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a dear friend, Janet Orcutt, who shared many years of companionship with Ronnie and continued to be a steady source of support and care in his life.
Ronnie will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and the special bond he shared with his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Appalachian Funeral Services chapel on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 6pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5pm-6pm.
