Ronald Marshall Rippin, age 84 years, a former resident of Mentor, OH and more recently a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, September 28, 2016 at his home under the care of Mountain Hospice. He was born Sunday, November 15, 1931 at Painesville, OH a son of the late Fredrick Albert and Charlotte Better Rippin. He was twice married. First, to the former Barbara McGovern, who preceded him in death. Second, to the former Jacqueline Johnson, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Michelle Jane Phares and husband, Rexell of Elkins; one stepson, Robert Aycock and wife Allison of TX; one brother, Jerome Rippin of Cleveland, OH; one sister, Sally Deutsch and husband Don of Mentor, OH; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Rippin of Morgantown, and Abigail Aycock of TX. Preceding him in death is one son, Jeffrey Albert Rippin; and one brother, Charles Rippin. He was a graduate of Mentor High School with the Class of 1951, was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict where he attended Army Language School. He was an employee of TRW Manufacturing Company and a former employee of the United States Postal Service in Mentor, OH where he retired and was instrumental in obtaining the union in his post office district. After his retirement he was a Bus Driver for Laketran. He was a member of the AMVets Organization and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Mr. Rippin's request for cremation was honored.
