Uecker-Witt Funeral Home & Cremation CenterRonald V. Schaefer, 75, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 29, 2026 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born August 15, 1950 in Fond du Lac, the son of Gilbert and Virginia (Richter) Schaefer. Ronald served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 – 1972.
On June 22, 1974 he married Jennifer J. Edkins at Covenant United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. Ronald worked as a welder at Damrow Co., Metal Link, and retired from Oshkosh Truck. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and Wisconsin sports teams, hunting, fishing, and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jennifer; two children, Matthew (Kristine) Schaefer and Valerie (Ben) Pitchford; five grandchildren, John and Luke Schaefer, Maxwell, Amelia, and Emme Pitchford. He is further survived by two sisters, Mary Schaefer and Ann (DJ) Faul; sister-in-law, Audrey Schaefer; many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and all his friends at Ramjets. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Mark; and father and mother-in-law, John and Jean Edkins.
The visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday at church. Burial will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Ronald’s name.
The family extends a special thank you to the SSM ICU staff for their compassionate care of Ron.
