Ronald “Bubba” Schnaubert went to the icy blue Rocky Mountains on December 19, 2025. Born on November 23, 1963, to Sue Winn and Steven Schnaubert. Born in Hobbs, NM where he spent most of his life with time in Florida building hotels and time in Arkansas raising his family. Bubba lived boldly, joyfully, and always on his own terms.
He met his soulmate Gala Dobbins, at the age of 21, and at 27 Bubba proudly became a father to his son, Dustin Earl Schnaubert. Dustin later married Anyssa Schnaubert, whom Bubba adored, and together they gave him twin grandchildren, DJ and Mila, who were his greatest pride and joy.
Bubba is survived by his siblings Mark Schnaubert (Angie), Joy Thompson (Darrell), and his beloved baby sister Julie Jett (Daniel), as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children. He also leaves behind his children by love, Anthony “Tony” Tarango and Cyndi Tarango, and an endless circle of friends who were family to him in every sense of the word.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sue Winn; his father, Steven Schnaubert; his uncle Ronnie Schnaubert; his uncle Ted Oliver; and his best friends Mike Naegele and Dude Tarango.
Bubba never met a stranger and had an unmatched ability to see the best in everyone. His life was one long celebration, and those who knew him know he would want to be remembered with laughter, stories, and a raised glass. As we send him off, we know he’s already enjoying the ultimate celebration—one worthy of the unforgettable man he was.
A viewing open to the public will be held at Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, NM from 10:00am-1:00pm on December 31, 2025. Family and friends are also invited to celebrate his life at the VFW from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
