Ronald Scott Obituary

Ronald J. ("Scotty") Scott

August 29, 1932 - January 10, 2026

Ronald J. ("Scotty") Scott, 93, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at The Grove at Oakleaf Village in Toledo, surrounded by his family, following a long journey with dementia. Born August 29, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, Scotty lived a full life grounded in family, faith, and care for others.

He was the devoted husband of Mary Ann (Lendecker), whom he met in 1950 at the Liberty Theater in downtown Toledo. They married in 1955 and shared more than 70 years together, building a life filled with family, friends, travel, laughter, and cherished routines. Scotty and Mary Ann adopted their daughter, Michelle, whom they raised with love, guidance, and encouragement. He was a steady presence, always ready to help, offer advice, or lend a hand, often with a quiet sense of humor.

After graduating from Macomber High School, Scotty enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Ordnance Corps during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 with the 40th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in a combat zone and remained proud of his service throughout his life.

Scotty worked as a Tool and Diemaker at Autolite and Chevrolet, later moving into engineering leadership. He eventually became Engineering Manager at Tecumseh Products' Acklin Stamping, and also worked with Midwest Stamping, Chrysler Toledo Machining, and Dura Automotive Systems, earning respect for his knowledge, reliability, and willingness to help.

In retirement, Scotty stayed active, working part-time as a handyman at Spuyten Duyval Golf Course and assisting with maintenance at senior living communities. He was known as a true gentleman-considerate, patient, and easy to be around.

Sports were a lifelong passion, especially bowling, baseball, golf, and football. He played golf well into his 80s and enjoyed winters in Florida and Arizona with Mary Ann, as well as cruises throughout the Caribbean. He was a devoted grandfather who never missed his granddaughters' sporting events and loved cheering them on.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Michelle (Don Adamski); granddaughters, Alexandra Evola (Sam Evola) and Natalie Metzger (John Metzger); three great-grandchildren; brother, Jim; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Sophie Szkatulski.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 3:00–6:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 5:30 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane. Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and The Grove for their compassionate care.
