PHILLIPS-Ronald L. Searles, 64, lost his hard fought battle with cancer on March 5, 2026 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 3, 1961, a son of Ray and June (Dunham) Searles.
Ron grew up in Phillips and attended local schools. 36 years ago he met Dennifer Brisard and the two were married on June 21, 2001. Together, they owned and operated R & D Redemption out of their home in Phillips. In addition, he established Ron's Paint & Labor and was self-employed for over 20 years.
A hard-working man who took extreme pride in providing for his family, Ron also made time to celebrate! Some of his favorite trips include Las Vegas with the boys (especially rodeo nights), Myrtle Beach and Florida with his family, and camping, particularly annual trips at Old Orchard Beach. Ron was especially happy to have traveled to Alaska prior to his cancer diagnosis.
Ron enjoyed recreating in the Maine outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing, or gardening. He was a huge Celtics fan and was proud of their success in recent years.
Ron, AKA "Ronnie Cash," was a happy-go-lucky guy who truly believed life was a party. The first one on the dance floor, Ron wasn't shy about busting a move and loved for everyone to have a great time. He had a deep love for his hometown of Phillips and especially enjoyed Phillips Old Home Days, where he could celebrate with the community he cared so much about. He was truly the happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Ron will be remembered with his cowboy hat on, cold one in hand, and a smile on his face.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his siblings: Arnold, Archie and Wanda.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Dennifer Searles; his daughters, McKenzie and her husband Tom, and Kennedy; his grandchildren, Logan, Peter, Paisley, Bennett, Braxton, and Darla; his extended granddaughter, Etta; his brother, Ray Searles; his best friend, Luke Haines and his wife, Amanda; and his niece and nephew, Bailea and Blake Haines.
Among those he held especially close were his very special friend, James Haynes, and dear friends, Marc and Betina Cloutier, who meant the world to him, and his Bassett Hound, Cecile.
Dennifer, McKenzie and Kennedy extend a heartfelt thanks to Ron's medical team at the Dana-Farber Institute in Boston for the exceptional care given to Ron. In addition, they wish to thank the local community for the outpouring of support shown to their family throughout Ron's journey.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation near and dear to the Searles: The Margie and Duna Toothaker Memorial Fund, ? Yolanda Smith, 68 Bray Hill Road,
Phillips, ME, 04966.
In true Ron fashion, he did not want a funeral-he wanted a party. A celebration of life will be held at a later date during warmer weather so family and friends can gather to share stories, laughter, and a few cold ones, just the way Ron would have wanted. Details will be announced.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St.,
Augusta, ME 04330.
