age 77, died Feb. 4, 2009, of many illnesses related to MS. Ron spent most of his retired life in a wheelchair fighting his disease. Ron was born Feb. 12, 1931, and married the "Love of his life" Bobbie (Hicks) in 1951. They had attended East Commerce High School in Detroit and graduated together in 1950. Ron worked for General Motors (Cadillac) for 35 years as a Quality Control inspector in Detroit, serving his union in many capacities, including Recreation Chairman for more than 10, 000 employees. Ron is a Marine Corps veteran from the Korean war era where he served his country. Ron was a bowler and many-year league officer and member of the local Greater Detroit Bowling Association. He was elected President of the GDBA and later named to the association's Hall of Fame for all his work promoting bowling in the area. Ron was very active in his Peace Lutheran Church in Warren and served as head usher for 32 years. Ron loved sports, and participated in many of them. He instilled the spirit of competitiveness in his children, grandchildren and friends. He organized many sporting events for his church and union over the years, which supported his love of organizing and being with people. Ron and Bobbie became horse racing enthusiasts and traveled the country visiting many race tracks, 42 in all until it became too difficult to travel. Ron is the Beloved Husband of Bobbie. Loving Father of Linda and Kenneth (the late Mary Kay). Dearest Grandfather of Amanda and Erica. Dear Brother of Larry and the late Michael Lodato.
