Ronald Sharp Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Elkins East Chapel - Killen on Jan. 3, 2026.
Ronald Gene Sharp, lovingly known as Ronnie, was born on March 13, 1941, and peacefully passed away on January 2, 2026.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, David and Virginia Sharp.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Mary Caroline Sharp, with whom he shared a life rooted in faith, love, and steadfast commitment. He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Amy Key (David) and Jackie Chumley (Leon). He was known with special affection as "Da" to his beloved granddaughter, Elli Key and Katherine Gulley. He is also survived by his granddaughters Heather Carmack (Carlis) and Whitney Robertson (Dillon) and great grandson Mattox Borden.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Angie Peters, as well as special nieces and nephews who held a dear place in his heart: Scott Williams, Faith Williams, Chris Williams, and Tanya Edwards. He was blessed with two "bonus daughters," Julie Stutts and Emily Gulley, and shared an especially close and loving bond with Katherine Gulley, whom he adored.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Ronnie was a devoted member and elder of Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where his love for God and his church family was evident through many years of dedicated service. The church was not simply where he worshipped-it was where he lived out his faith through work, fellowship, and quiet leadership.
Ronnie was well known throughout the community for his strong work ethic. He spent many years at Automotive Parts in Rogersville, later worked at Saginaw Steering Gear, and proudly retired from Saturn in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
Outside of work, Ronnie loved the outdoors-especially hunting and spending long days in the fields with his hunting dogs. In retirement, his greatest joy came from babysitting Elli, and later Katherine, roles he embraced with patience, pride, and unconditional love. He also enjoyed traveling to ballgames, watching westerns, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Ronnie was a steady and faithful provider. He took great pride in making sure his family had everything they ever needed. From cars, to education, to quiet support given without question, he worked tirelessly so his children could succeed. His love was shown not in words, but in unwavering presence, sacrifice, and action.
Ronnie was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his kind spirit, steady presence, and gentle heart. Above all, he was a faithful husband, a devoted father, and simply the best daddy.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
Matthew 25:21
