Ronald Wayne Sibal, 88, passed away on October 17, 2024 in his home at Hot Springs, SD, with family at his side. Ron was born September 21, 1936 in Ogallala, NE, to Joseph F. and Estella Wilson Sibal. He grew up on the family ranch in the sandhills of Arthur, NE. Ronnie, as he was known in his younger years, attended grade school in the country school that his grandfather, John Sibal, helped to get established. He graduated from Arthur County High School in 1955 where he played football and was the homecoming king. He loved to ranch with his Dad and brothers and do a little rodeoing. Ronnie was baptized in the Arthur Baptist Church during his high school years.
In June 1956, he married Emma Larsen and to this union, their daughter, Kelle Jo was born. They would later divorce.
In 1964 Ron ventured to Hot Springs, SD, to start a new life. He married Lora Warner in December 1965 and they had two sons, Richard "Rick" Sibal and Ronald S. Sibal. Later they would divorce. He spent the last 36 years married to Margrethe E. Lively.
Ron was taught early to always work and work hard he did. His first job out of high school was at Safeway in Ogallala, NE. Throughout his life he worked many jobs, from construction on grain elevators in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Kansas and truck driving delivering the movie theatre films throughout the Black Hills. And many more jobs in between.
He worked for nearly 25 years at the South Dakota State Veterans Home and retired as Superintendent over Maintenance Department.
After retirement he decided he couldn't sit still, so went back to work part-time at a couple hotels in maintenance.
In his retirement he spent time refinishing antique furniture, restoring his Subaru pickup, traveling the Black Hills to Texas in his motor home, maintaining his yard which was his pride and joy and spending many hours just "tinkering" in his garage. He always had something he was working on because he never threw anything away, it could be fixed.
