Ronald E. Unger 78, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on October 20, 2022, at Tierra Pines Care Center after a long 18-year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born in Chicago, IL, on December 22, 1943, the son of the late Arthur Unger and LaRayne Unger-Birk. He is survived by his wife Christine Unger, and his children Jason Unger married to Mojeh Unger, and Jeanette Perkins. He is also survived by his grandchildren Savanna Unger, Ashley Unger, and Keith Perkins; along with his two sisters Sherry Unger, and Diana Guenthardt.
After Ronald graduated high school in Illinois, he started a carpet cleaning business in Chicago. Shortly after high school, he met his soulmate Christine Dodaro (Unger). After two and a half years of being together, they were then married in Chicago in 1966. In June of 1969, Ronald and Christine were blessed with their son Jason Unger. A couple of years pass, and they were blessed with their daughter Jeanette Unger (Perkins) in June of 1972.
Ronald and Christine soon after having their daughter moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1972 to start a carpet cleaning business in Florida.
Ronald on the side of doing carpet cleaning did stand-up comedy at the Sand Key Club with his puppet named Woodie. Aside from doing comedy, Ronald was an avid musician with a talent for playing the guitar and singing. Through his many talents, he lit up any room and brought laughter with it. Even during his tough battle with Parkinson's, he still would crack jokes and sing his favorite tunes.
Ronald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be deeply missed.
