Ronald Allen Zuege, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Edgewater Health Care Center. He was born on August 7, 1935, in Rudolph, Wisconsin, the son of Martin and Minnie (Brehm) Zuege. Ron graduated from Lincoln High school in 1953. He served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964. He proudly served his community as a firefighter and an EMT from 1968-1990, retiring on December 30, 1990, as Assistant Fire Chief.
Ron was a skilled handyman, loved antiques, his dogs, feeding squirrels and rooting for the Brewers. He enjoyed working on and rebuilding Model A cars and visible gas pumps. He was a charter member of the Model A Club of America-Central Wisconsin Chapter for 50 years, and was a member of the International Association of Firefighters from 1968-1986. He served on the Central Labor Council of Wisconsin Rapids from 1978-1985 and was treasurer for 4 years.
Ron is survived by his partner Roxann Cote, his sister Betty Tuxhorn and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Dorothy (Walter) Manz, Delton Zuege, Lucille (Florian) Ashenberg, Claire Jacobson, Elton (Elaine) Zuege, Lynette (Russell) Wilson, Joyce (Merlin) Marti and brother in-law Delbert Tuxhorn.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut St., Wisconsin Rapids. The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm, with Deacon Tom Anderson presiding. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with military honors.
A memorial will be set up at a later date.
