Ronnie Burton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff-Skiatook Cremation & Funeral Home on Oct. 28, 2025.
Ronnie Lynn Burton, beloved husband, father, pappy, uncle, Mr. B, and friend, passed peacefully at his home while surrounded by his family, at the age of 80, on October 27th, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1945, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Charles Arvil Burton, Jr. and Ruth Etolia Gibson Burton. Ronnie, the youngest of three, grew up with his siblings, Jimmy and Beverly, on the family dairy farm west of town. The children spent countless days running barefoot through the cow pasture, engaging in cow patty fights, fishing at the ponds, and shooting guns.
Ronnie met the love of his life, Beverly Jean Warma at Skiatook High School. As a matter of fact, their classmates voted them SHS's cutest couple in 1962! The two shared a bond built on faith, laughter, and an unshakable commitment that lasted through every season of life.
Ronnie's competitive spirit shone through his athletic involvement in high school, college football, and his coaching career. He received a punting scholarship for the Oklahoma Military Academy football team. Ronnie earned a degree in Physical Education and Science Education from Northeastern State University and began a lifelong mission of shaping young lives. As a 7th grade science teacher, basketball and football coach, and bus driver, his students remember how he made them feel seen, encouraged, and capable of more than they imagined.
In July of 1968, the U.S. Army drafted Ronnie into the 2nd Infantry Division. He served faithfully and honorably while stationed on the DMZ in South Korea.
Ronnie filled his life with simple joys. He loved to cross-stitch, fish, fly kites, and work outside while listening to and identifying birds. He created endless memories boating and camping at Lake Hudson in Salina, Oklahoma, while raising Krista and Kyle. During the summers, he painted houses to fund family vacations to national parks. Ronnie found joy in creating beautiful things and sharing handmade pieces of jewelry with those around him.
Those who knew Ronnie will tell you he had a gift for connection. He had a way of making people feel welcome, as if they had known him forever, even during a first conversation.
Ronnie will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and former students whose lives he affected so greatly. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in every life he inspired.
And by the way "You've got something on your shirt "

Ronnie Burton was one of the finest men I had the pleasure of knowing. He was a very special teacher, great at supporting his students and his fellow teachers. The world is an emptier place without his happy laughter and Heaven is blessed to receive him.
