Ronnie Keith Valentine, 76, of Sheridan, IN passed away on July 25, 2024 in his home surrounded by devoted family. He was born on November 4, 1947 in Pathfork, KY and had many stories of his childhood spent in the coal mining mountains.
Ronnie moved to Westfield, IN as a teenager and graduated from Westfield High School in 1966. It was during this time that he met his wife, Ava. They were side by side from that time on and were married for 55 years at the time of his death. After graduation he obtained an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sam's Technical Institute. Ronnie served in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He was stationed in Vietnam in 1970 as an aircraft mechanic crew chief in the 531st Tactical Flight Squadron at Ben Hoa and Tan Son Nhat. After his military service he worked for the US Postal Service as a rural letter carrier at the Noblesville and Westfield post offices for 36 years.
Throughout all this time he was a remarkably dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He spent lots of time causing mischief, especially with his grandchildren, and keeping everyone entertained with his joking and comments. He was a man to "show up". He was there for every ballgame, activity, and award his children and grandchildren were involved in, to any car trouble or house project he thought you needed help on, and everything in between. His family came first, and he could always be relied upon. His absence is already felt deeply by all who loved him.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Ava (Simpson) Valentine; daughter, Tara Bacon; son, Nathan (Beth) Valentine; daughter, Erin (Norm) Gould; and his 7 grandchildren, Sydney Bacon, Alaina Bacon, Adalynn Gould, Abram Gould, Keith Valentine, Samuel Valentine, and Wyatt Valentine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Elsie (Smith) Valentine; and sisters, Barbara Campbell and Mary Robinson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville. Ronnie will be interred in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield at 11am on August 12, 2024.
