Ronza King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carthage Chapel - Jacksonville on Dec. 26, 2025.
Ronza Dwight King, born in 1951 in Ellanville, Georgia, to the late Rena Lee Sampson and Aaron Smith, peacefully transitioned from this life leaving behind a powerful legacy of love, leadership, and devotion to God. Ronza attended John Lewis High School and later joined Job Corps, where he developed the discipline, integrity, and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, further strengthening his character and reinforcing the values of honor, responsibility, and perseverance that he passed down to his family.

Ronza lived his life rooted in faith, trusting God's guidance, leaning on prayer, and leading by example through his actions. His faith was not just spoken; it was lived daily through his commitment to family, his wisdom, and the way he treated others with respect and compassion.

Ronza was a devoted family man who led his life to the fullest. Family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in being a provider, protector, and teacher. His presence brought stability, guidance, and a sense of togetherness that will be deeply missed. He enjoyed shooting pool at the billiards hall and sharpening his mind while playing chess with his grandsons-moments filled with laughter, lessons, and lasting memories.

Ronza was the oldest of four siblings. He is survived by his loving sister, Benita Sampson, his wife Patrica King, and his children: Torrence D. King, Andrea Byars, and Keisha Baker. He was preceded in death by his siblings Benny Sampson, Milton Sampson, and Celestine Sampson, as well as his son, Deangelo Simpkins. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by his wisdom, love, and leadership.

Mr. King may be viewed on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Carthage Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2025, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Logan Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32204, and the interment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Jacksonville National.
