Funeral service for Roosevelt Davis, age 74 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Darrell W. Pryor officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. Roosevelt passed away on November 15, 2024, alongside his wife, Debra.

Roosevelt Davis was born on February 23, 1950, to Henry and Dessie Davis, in Longview, Tx. He was the 4th of eight children. He attended public schools in Longview, Tx, and graduated from Mary C. Womack High School. After high school, he began working blue-collar jobs. He began his career, with Gulf Oil Company in 1980. Where he worked for more than 20 years. While working for Gulf, he took several enrichment courses.

Mr. Davis accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Longview, Tx. Mr. Davis would soon meet the love of his life, Debra Wooten. The two were married on June 14, 1980 at his father-in-law’s church, New Harmony Baptist Church in Dallas, Tx. Both he and Debra were active members of Bethel Baptist church where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir directed by his spouse, the minister of music. The two were faithful and committed to their duties at Bethel, until he and his wife relocated to Sulphur Springs, residing in the Birch Creek community. He worked for Carlton Furniture in Mt. Vernon, Tx for over 10 years. He became an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and taught several bible classes.

 Mr. Davis enjoyed working in the yard, on his cars and any odd jobs or projects. He loved to use his hands. He admired and doted over his spouse Debra Davis. When not working in the yard, he enjoyed spending time with her. The two regularly shared conversations about their faith, love for God, as well as watching westerns and TV game shows. Most importantly, he was a God-fearing man who was always willing to help someone in need. Whatever he had, he never hesitated to share. Whether it was his finances or an encouraging word from God.

He leaves behind one daughter and 3 bonus daughters, to cherish his memory. Savoy (Greg) Wilkerson, ShaRee Andrews, Shava (Tracy) Ivery, Shannon (Mike) Regalzi. Brothers: Johnnie Ray Darden (Longview,Tx) James Davis (Seattle, Washington). Sisters: Lucille Darden (Longview, Tx) and Jeanette Porter (Longview, Tx), Betty (Henry) Graves, (Laguna Hills, California). Six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, 2 brothers, and a brother-in-law.
