Rory D. Pilon gained his angel wings on January 22, 2023. He was born in Dillon on June 14, 1978 to Dan and Teresa Pilon. The youngest of three boys, he was determined to do anything his older brothers did.
As a youth, he participated in Missoula Children's Theatre. For him it was easy, and he told his mom, "All you have to do is talk loud." He participated in multiple sports including baseball, football, wrestling, and skiing. Later in life he became an avid snowmobiler with his closest friends, making annual trips to West Yellowstone.
He always had a compassionate spirit, leading him to go into the healthcare field. He received his BSN from Montana State University in 2002. After college, he began his nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Phoenix, AZ. He worked in Oncology and Trauma ICU for 10 years, making lifelong friends.
During his time in Arizona, he reunited with Shantel Saye. They started their family with the birth of their first daughter Adilynn(12). They married on May 28, 2011, and soon after Chase(11) was born. Teaghan(10) came 14 months later and completed their family. Moving back home to Dillon in 2014 to raise their family. The family quickly became involved in their community being active in their church as well as participating in various youth programs.
Rory worked for 7 years in the emergency room at St. James Hospital in
Butte, MT and 5 years at Barrett Memorial Hospital in
Dillon, MT. Rory and Shantel recently purchased a landscaping company, known as Pilon's Landscaping and Sprinklers.
Rory is survived by his loving wife, Shantel Pilon (Saye), their 3 children Adilynn, Chase, and Teaghan, parents Dan & Teresa Pilon, brothers Tadd Pilon, Brian (Shanna) Pilon, in-laws Sherry & Scott Haffey, sister in-law Shaydean Saye, Aunt Becky (Tom) Miller, Uncle Jim Pilon, Uncle David (Karen) Larche, many cousins, nieces and a nephew, special bonded friends Brandon Turney, Jamie Skradski, Blaine Paddock, and Jarett Lower and many amazing friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Roscoe and Claire Pilon and Irma Vasser.
A service will be held on Sunday, January 29th at 3:00pm on University of Montana Western campus in the Keltz Arena, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, food, or gifts, an account has been set up at Stockman Bank for Shantel and her children.
