Rosa Allen was born on May 7, 1949, in Washington, D.C., at Freedmen's Hospital-now known as Howard University Hospital-to the late Lillian Butler and William Butler Sr. She peacefully departed this life on November 8, 2025. Rosa was united in marriage to the late Julius C. Allen in April 2000, a union filled with love and companionship.

Rosa received her early education through Anne Arundel County Public Schools and later proudly completed her GED at the OIC Learning Center in Annapolis in 1989. She dedicated many years of service to Anne Arundel County Public Schools, working in the Food Service Department at Eastport Elementary, where she was known for her warm presence and strong work ethic. She retired in 2011 after a fulfilling career.

Rosa loved life and lived it in her own joyful way. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, and spending time at bingo halls such as Wayson's Corner and Bingo World. She cherished being surrounded by family and friends and was often seen relaxing with her little red cooler, ready to enjoy good company and good times.

Rosa leaves to cherish her memory her son, Morris Henson Jr. (Shanel); daughter, Jaylene Allen; stepson, Jody Allen (Kim); and stepdaughter, Jolanda Allen-Ellison (Lawrence). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Carlita Henson, Eugene Hicks Jr., and Zoey Hicks; her great-grandchildren, Damarion Mitchell, Dylan Morgan, Ra'kayla Brown and Cayden Minor; and step-grandchildren Jocelyn Allen, Jayson Allen, Jalen Allen, Aliah Jukes, Anthony Jukes, Destiny Neal, Zakiya Ellison, Jerae Allen (Brittany), Jasmine Allen, Janay Allen, Asia Holland, and Jerome Allen Jr. Her step–great-grandchildren include Zyair Jukes, Kamryn Taylor, and Jade Allen.

She is further survived by her sisters Marie Dorsey, Mary Drummond, Dorothy Murray, and Betty Williams (Robert), and her brother William Butler Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her devoted cousin, Evelyn Proctor.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Julius C. Allen; her sister, Shirley Mullen; her brother, Charles Butler; her stepson, Jerome Allen Sr.; and her dear friends Lillian Grant, Roslyn Thompson, and Betty Ann Johnson.

Rosa will be remembered for her warm heart, lively spirit, and the joy she brought to every gathering. Her love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
