Rosa Lee Burkins was born on October 2, 1960, and peacefully departed this life on January 15, 2026. Raised in Sturgis, Kentucky, Rosa carried with her a deep sense of compassion, resilience, and love that shaped every season of her life.

Rosa dedicated many years of service as a dietitian at Brenthaven, where she later retired. She truly loved her work and found fulfillment in caring for others, ensuring their health, comfort, and dignity. Her profession reflected who she was at heart — a nurturing, selfless woman with a servant’s spirit.

A natural caregiver, Rosa was known for her gentle strength, her warmth, and her unwavering willingness to help family and friends alike. She lived out motherhood not only through words, but through action, guidance, and unconditional love.

She was a devoted and dearly loving mother to her Son, Lewis R. Burkins & (bonus Son) Dennis Thomas. “Rose” as she was affectionally known played a meaningful role in the lives of the children she raised as her own: her nephew Tommy Tyler, and nieces Mary Tyler and Latkeya “Kee Kee” Tyler. Her legacy continues through her two grandchildren, Traver Burkins and Brettni Burkins, and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.

Rosa was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Henderson, Kentucky, where she found strength, fellowship, and peace in her walk with God.

She is survived by her sister(s) Georgia (Tammy) Burkins, Debra Hamilton, her brother Michael L. Burkins and his wife Sabrina, her aunts Mary Tyler-Curry and Delores Weathers, and her uncle Warren (Bobby) Burkins, along with a host of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Burkins, her mother Loucrissia Tyler, Mary Betty Burkins, her sisters Virginia Tyler and April Pruitt, and her nephew Brian Miles.

Rosa Lee Burkins will be remembered for her kind heart, her nurturing spirit, and the many lives she touched simply by loving well.
