Rosa Pignataro Malta

Rosa Malta, age 92, passed away peacefully, a day after her 92nd birthday, on November 23, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Daughter of the late Giuseppe and Vicenta Pigantaro. She is preceded in death by her later husband, Luis G Malta and her son, Robin A Malta. Mother of Monica Thurmond (Shawn Peterson) and Luigi Malta. Grandmother of Ashley and Chelsie Thurmond, Ericka Poole, and Giovani Malta. Great-grandmother of Cullen, Brennan, and Nora Kate Poole. Also survived by her faithful furry companion, Bambina, Tom Thurmond, Michelle Brignac, Annette Williams, Bonnie Thompson, Jessica Cavallero, Dayna Campesi and many other loving family and friends.

Rosita, as known by her friends, had a passion for Arts and Crafts. She was a volunteer for many years at the Women’s Auxiliary to West Jefferson Medical Center where she showcased her artistic talents and creativity.

She was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Shortly after she married her beloved Luis, they moved to the U.S. with a final residence in New Orleans. She was a full-time homemaker but in her spare time worked on her arts and crafts as well as attending beauty school to become a nail technician, which she did on a part time basis.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service and prayers at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
