Rosalie Catherine Morrissey of Atlantis, Florida, died at the age of 92 on August 4, 2022.
She is survived by her son, John P. Morrissey of West Palm Beach, Florida, and her grandsons, Nicolas R. Morrissey and Patrick J. Morrissey of Plantation, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, James R. Alvaroe of Pinckney, Michigan, and her sister, Judith Lukacs of West Palm Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Morrissey, her son, Joseph J. Morrissey, and her brother, John V. Alvaroe.
Rosalie was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 26, 1929, to parents James V. Alvaroe and Leona Ann Loewen. She had three siblings, John V. Alvaroe, James R. Alvaroe and Judith Lukacs. She married John R. Morrissey on February 23, 1957, and they lived happily together through the date of his death on August 14, 1985. The couple had two children, Joseph J. Morrissey and John P. Morrissey. Joseph died on April 6, 2010, leaving two children, Nicolas R. Morrissey, and Patrick J. Morrissey.
Rosalie graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital Nursing School in 1952, and she received her Associate of Science in Nursing at Palm Beach Community College in 1981. She cared for others as a nurse for 56 years, mostly in the areas of medical-surgical and geriatric nursing. She was the recipient of the Nurse of the Year Award in 1981 and 1998, the Nurse Excellence Award in 2006, and the Lamplighter Award in 2009 by the Florida Nurses Association.
Rosalie was a member of numerous clubs and organizations, including the Florida Nurses Association, Boynton Beach Historical Society, Town and Country Garden Club of Lake Worth, Palm Beach Shell Club, St. Joseph's Episcopal Church Choir, and Holy Redeemer Church Choir. She loved photography and shelling, and she nobly spent her life caring for others.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at the Del Lago Chapel in Lake Worth Beach, Florida.
