Rosan W. Andrews

Mrs. Rosan Williamson Andrews, 99, of Pamplico, SC passed away July 3, 2025 at home surrounded by family. She was born December 31, 1925 to the late Lizzie Robinson Williamson and late Nathaniel Williamson. She was strong, but gentle, loving, kind, an unassuming lady, mama, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. She will be dearly missed here but greatly welcomed in Heaven.

After her mother’s death, she spent several years in Rocky Mountain, NC with family before returning back to South Carolina. She lived with her Aunt Annie Belle Harrison in Claussen, SC, and her sister, Jesse Williamson Hyman in Olanta, SC. She met and wedded the love of her life, Billy Cuttino Andrews, II (B.C.) in 1942. B.C. joined the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in California for training. She joined him there and began an early career with the Army Post Exchange. When B.C. was deployed to combat in Burma, Rosan returned to SC to give birth to her first of five children. Her first born was a beautiful daughter whom she named “Billie Ann” after her father, owing to the uncertainty of a soldier’s return from war.

Rosan was an active member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Claussen, SC. After completing his tour of duty, B.C. returned home to his family. Rosan joined her husband’s church, Mill Branch African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Pamplico, SC. Rosan was an active and dedicated member. She served as a distinguished member of the Stewardess Board and the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS). Rosan was blessed to fellowship with her church family for the August 2023 Annual Homecoming Picnic held in the church’s fellowship hall. She relished playing bingo with her daughters and grandchildren by her side.

Rosan was employed with Wentworth Manufacturing as a Seamstress while she and B.C. built a life together on the Family Farm. Having a love for nature, Rosan spent countless mornings and evenings fishing at the family pond. They taught their children the value of love for family, how to treat your fellow man, honest work and the inherent worth of education. She retired from Delta Mills Marketing Company. Rosan was active in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Lady Dozen Club, founded by her late mother-in-law, Catherine Gregg Andrews and the Quitting Club. She was a member of the Mill Branch Senior Citizens where they enjoyed crafts, singing, bingo and field trips.

Rosan was a very special mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren and family immensely. Christmas was her favorite time to shower them with love. They were always looking forward to her cakes and lemon meringue pies. Her deserts were a super treat.

Rosan was preceded in death by her parents, Lizzie Robinson Williamson and Nathaniel Williamson; husband, Billy Cuttino Andrews, II (B.C.); seven sisters and four brothers.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Billie Ann A. Hugee (Mel) of Philadelphia, PA, Saundra L. Greene (Ulysses, deceased) of Pamplico, SC, Deborah Walker (Anthony) of Columbia, SC, Billy Cuttino Andrews, III (Mona Lisa) of Pamplico, SC, Nathaniel B. Andrews, Sr. (Katrena) of Pamplico, SC; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great- grandchildren; sibling: Stephen Williamson (Susan) of Atlanta, GA; one brother-in-law, Cal Steadman, (Annie Joe, deceased) of Columbia, SC, two sisters-in-law, Anne Dora Cox (Deleon, deceased) Andrews of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lizzie Andrews (Leon, deceased) Grant of Pamplico, SC and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and her beloved kittens. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the community she served with such love and dedication.

Special thanks to Mae Retha Bailey who lovingly and tenderly cared for our “Mama” during her last stage of earthly life. She will always be loved by the family.
